About Us
Highland Plaza United Methodist Preschool was established in 1965 as an outreach
program of Highland Plaza United Methodist Church. In June of 2010, it became a
ministry of Hixson United Methodist Church.
Our Goals
- Provide a loving atmosphere and safe environment based on Christian principles.
- To provide an early educational experience where children come to believe in themselves
& their ability to have an impact on the world.
- To enable children to see that they are creative, able, critical thinkers.
- For the classroom environment to honor learning styles.
- For the teachers to use a variety of strategies to engage the learner.
- For teachers and families to work together in partnership for the good of all children.

Meet The Director - Heather Manuel
Greetings HPUMP families! I'm Heather Manuel, and I am thrilled to serve as the
Director of Highland Plaza United Methodist Preschool. With over 30 years in
Early Childhood Education, I've been dedicated to enriching children's lives,
whether in the classroom, community programs, or ministry roles. Married to
Paul with three kids—Emily, Elijah, and Ellie—we relocated from Florida in 2021,
following God's guidance. Intrigued by HPUMP's Reggio-inspired approach and
immersive learning spaces, I'm eager to support your family's journey. I am
excited to meet you all in person soon!
